The Canyon Lake POA Board honored Rob Mora as July Member of the Month for his service and contribution to the Canyon Lake community.
A resident since 2004, Mora’s commitment to the community runs deep. He’s played an active role in Canyon Lake for years, culminating in his current service as commodore of the Canyon Lake Yacht Club. Under his guidance, the club has flourished into a vibrant organization, one that offers opportunities for all residents to connect, give back, and participate in fun and meaningful ways.
After serving as vice commodore, Mora has been at the helm of the club for the past two years, bringing energy, creativity, and leadership to the role. Among his many contributions to the club, Mora launched the club’s popular Burgee Contest, which sparked a wave of participation and resulted in the collection of burgees from across the country—and even the nation.
Under Mora’s direction, the club has organized dozens of memorable events, including themed sunset cruises, boat parade workshops, and other fun events that bring community members together, such as a Chili Cook-Off on Skipper’s Island.
When the Triathlon and Fitness Club disbanded, the Yacht Club, under Mora’s leadership, stepped up to keep the tradition alive by taking over Canyon Lake’s annual Paddle and Pedal Regatta, ensuring this beloved event continues for all to enjoy.
Mora also participates in Fiesta Day, offering his boat as a water taxi to and from Holiday Harbor Park and the lodge, and sitting in the dunk tank to help raise money for a cause. Mora also participates annually in the Golf Cart Christmas Parade and Parade of Lights boat parade, earning numerous trophies for his creative and crowd-favorite entries, like the festive Santa golf cart and the whimsical Gum Drop Good float.
Known for his reliability, humility, and generous spirit, Mora is the guy everyone calls. Whether it’s selling a boat, fixing a golf cart, or building a float for the next Canyon Lake boat parade, Mora shows up ready to make it happen.
