The Canyon Lake POA recognized Ronda McCord as its Member of the Month during the February board meeting.

McCord relocated from Anaheim Hills to Canyon Lake in December 2020 and quickly became involved in the Canyon Lake quilting community. She joined the Quilters of Canyon Lake, a group dedicated to honoring Canyon Lake veterans and active duty service members by presenting them with handmade patriotic quilts as a token of appreciation for their service. The recipients of the quilts are chosen through nominations and free raffles for veterans during major community events.

The group, which has been creating these meaningful patriotic quilts for the past 10 years, consists of approximately 15 members who meet monthly to work on their projects. McCord has led the group since mid-2021.

“I feel blessed to live in Canyon Lake and find like-minded friends to be able to honor our Canyon Lake veterans and first responders,” McCord said. “I want to acknowledge the work and efforts of all the quilters in Canyon Lake who contribute to making quilts for our veterans. It’s a group effort.”

McCord belongs to three Canyon Lake quilting groups and is a member of the Valley Quilters Guild, continuing to pursue her passion for quilting.

Beyond quilting, McCord teaches greeting card classes and donates a portion of the proceeds to the Quilters of Canyon Lake group to support their mission. She also serves as the vice president and membership chair for the Mermaids of Canyon Lake Club, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that promotes volunteerism, sisterhood, and community through philanthropic endeavors.
