The Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Board of Directors honored Valerie Montgomery as Member of the Month for her contributions to the community.

A Canyon Lake resident since 2004, Montgomery has been a member of the Women’s Golf Club for 20 years, serving in several positions on the board. As past president of the club, Montgomery serves on the CLIPPS and chaired the group in 2018.

Montgomery found her passion when she was appointed to the Green Committee as the Women’s Club representative. The care and maintenance of the golf course became paramount and she worked hard to make improvements. She became chairman of the committee in 2013 and served 10 years, leading the committee to many accomplishments.

Montgomery also served on the committee that promoted non-resident annual golf memberships, resulting in 49 new golf memberships. The program has generated more than $1 million in revenue for the POA.

As a longtime member of the Canyon Lake Travel Club, Montgomery served three years as the Day Trip chairman, organizing many day trips for members.

In the 70s, Montgomery was employed by the American Cancer Society, where she met her husband, Travis, who served as a volunteer. They married in 1976. Montgomery also worked with Project Hope, knitting more than 100 winter scarves for troops on the battlefront, and with Sleep Train in support of foster children.

“Valerie has done a wonderful job serving the communities around us and especially our community right here in Canyon Lake,” POA Director Joe Kamashian said. We are blessed to have Valerie Montgomery as our neighbor.”
