The Canyon Lake Property Owners Association (POA) has identified the primary suspect in a vandalism incident that caused significant damage to the north ski pavilion on April 21.
According to the POA, two individuals caused approximately $2,300 in damage by intentionally burning the deck using electric motorcycles.
Security footage captured the incident at approximately 2 p.m., showing two juveniles spinning their rear tires to leave burn marks on the wooden deck, resulting in visible burn marks.
The POA reported that the primary suspect is a 15-year-old resident of Menifee. The individual allegedly entered the community illegally by driving through the East Gate exit lane.
According to the POA, the Menifee Police Department is familiar with the suspect, who reportedly already has a criminal record despite his age. The POA confirmed that all evidence, including surveillance footage, has been turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for further investigation. “We are currently awaiting the announcement of an arrest,” the POA said.
