The Canyon Lake Property Owners Association (CLPOA) announced that it has officially lifted its no full-body contact advisory it issued earlier this month in response to a golden algae bloom and fish kill.
The advisory was implemented after thousands of dead fish were reported along various parts of the lake’s shoreline—a situation believed to be caused by the algae bloom.
According to the POA, the latest water samples show a significant decrease in golden algae levels. While the advisory has been lifted for such activities as swimming and recreation, the POA continues to advise residents and visitors to rinse off with soap and water after lake use, particularly individuals with sensitive skin.
In the wake of the golden algae bloom, the CLPOA has announced the formation of a new Lake Management Committee, which will be made up of resident volunteers. For more information about this committee, click here.
