On June 29, the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association presented its Marine Patrol report for incidents that occurred from May 27 through June 22. The report highlighted 305 calls for service.
Staff performed 178 boat safety inspections, 25 quagga inspections, 16 boat tows, 38 fishing license checks, and 350 debris/other retrieval and disposal.
In addition to 60 verbal and two written warnings, staff issued 113 citations. Citations include eight for expired/no registration (State), two for expired/no registration (POA), 97 for expired/no registration at a dock or lift, one for excessive wake in a no-wake zone, one for reckless behavior while operating a motorized boat, one for no fishing license, one for failure to present a valid ID/CBC, and two for “other” violations.
Patrol boats operated 153 hours on the main lake, 111.4 hours on the East Bay, and 19.1 hours on the north ski area.
Boat one operated 155.3 hours, boat two operated 59.6 hours, boat three operated 19.1 hours, and boat four operated 49.5 hours.
Unlike Community Patrol employees, Marine Patrol employees are employed by the POA. Its primary functions are compliance with rules and regulations, quagga and boat safety inspections, and incident observation and reporting to the POA.
