On October 31, the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association presented its Marine Patrol report for incidents that occurred from September 29 through October 26. The report highlighted 74 calls for service.
Staff performed 16 boat safety inspections, 31 quagga inspections, six boat tows, two battery assists, and 47 debris/other retrieval and disposal. No fishing license checks were performed.
Staff issued 33 citations, in addition to 26 verbal warnings and one written warning. The citations include six for expired/no registration (state), 24 for expired/no registration at a dock or lift, one for excessive wake in a no wake zone, and two for “other” violations.
Patrol boats operated 135 hours on the main lake, 94.6 hours on the East Bay, and 2.7 hours on the north ski area.
Boat one operated 90.7 hours, boat two operated 122.2 hours, boat three operated 2.7 hours, and boat four operated 16.7 hours.
Unlike Community Patrol employees, Marine Patrol employees are employed by the Canyon Lake POA. Its primary functions are compliance with rules and regulations, quagga and boat safety inspections, and incident observation and reporting.
