The Canyon Lake POA is moving to electronic voting of elections for the first time. Governor Newsom signed AB 2159 in October 2024, making it possible for California HOAs and POAs to vote electronically. With more than 50,000 homeowners’ associations across the state, many are transitioning to electronic voting this year.
This change is expected to make it easier for members to vote and for associations to reach quorum. This could also help to reduce election costs over time.
All Canyon Lake POA Prime Members will be automatically opted in for electronic voting. Members will receive an email with a secure link to cast their vote during elections. Associate Members are not entitled to vote.
During the week of January 13, HOA Elections will send letters via USPS mail to notify homeowners that they are opted into electronic voting and provide details on the email address where the voting link will be sent.
Members may opt-out and continue voting by mail. The deadline to opt out of electronic voting and request a paper ballot is February 14.
HOA Elections representatives will be attending the February 4 board meeting to answer questions and provide further details about electronic voting. Members who have questions pertaining to electronic voting are encouraged to attend the meeting.
