On May 2, the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association presented its Marine Patrol report for incidents from March 24 through April 27. The report highlighted 168 calls for service.
Staff performed 56 boat safety inspections, 16 boat tows, eight fishing license checks, 210 debris/other retrieval and disposal, and 38 quagga inspections.
Four citations were issued for expired/no registration (State) and six for expired/no registration at a dock or lift.
In addition to 44 verbal and four written warnings, two citations were issued for excessive wake in a no-wake zone, one citation was issued for no fishing license, and two citations were issued for “other” violations.
Patrol boats operated 201.3 hours on the main lake, 139.9 hours on the East Bay, and no hours on the north ski area.
Boats one and two did not operate during this time period. Boat three operated 138.2 hours, and boat four operated 203 hours.
Two incidents were reported: a sunken boat at a member’s dock and an electrical power outlet fire at a member’s waterfront.
Unlike Community Patrol employees, Marine Patrol employees are employed by the POA. Its primary functions are compliance with rules and regulations, quagga and boat safety inspections, and incident observation and reporting to the POA.
