The Canyon Lake POA Board of Directors on Tuesday approved a 28-day reading to revise the rule pertaining to Special Events Permits.
The City of Canyon Lake requires a Special Events Permit (Ordinance 11.25) to be completed for any event expecting 50 or more people. The permit must be submitted and paid for at least 28 days in advance of the event. The current cost is $84.
The POA owns the common areas. As such, the city may fine the POA for events held on common areas by an individual member, client, or group that fails to obtain the necessary permit. The rule revision clarifies that any fine issued to the POA from the city would be passed onto the responsible party that held the event.
The revised rule is as follows:
GR.4.1 Special Events Permit: The City of Canyon Lake requires all events with 50 or more persons/guests at any one time to obtain a Special Events Permit 28 days prior to the function or event. It is the sole responsibility of the member, client, or group to obtain the required Special Events Permit from the City of Canyon Lake. For those events held on Association common areas, any fine issued to the CLPOA for failure to obtain the Special Events Permit will be passed through to the responsible party.
The fine associated with this rule is $50.
