The Solar Project approved by the POA Board of Directors in April is scheduled to begin in the fall, the POA announced.
Solar panels on steel carport structures will be installed over the driving range tee box at the country club, in the lodge parking lot, and in the Operations yard.
In addition to providing ample shaded parking options, the solar panels are expected to save the POA nearly $3 million over 25 years.
According to the POA, the contractor will bear 100 percent of the construction and engineering costs of this system, which is expected to cost more than $2 million. In exchange, the POA will purchase electricity from the PPA provider at fixed costs that are much less than the current Southern California Edison rates, for a period of 25 years.
