A new Solar Project will soon be delivering clean and renewable energy to some of Canyon Lake’s busiest facilities. Solar panels on steel carport structures will be installed at the country club, in the lodge parking lot, and near the equestrian center.
The solar panels will provide ample shaded parking options, generate more than one million kilowatt-hours of clean energy, and save the POA nearly $3 million over 25 years.
These solar panels have no upfront cost for the POA. Instead, the POA will purchase the generated electricity at a much lower cost than current rates. Additionally, the POA will be locked in at set rates, guaranteeing that the POA pays a fixed amount for the next 25 years.
The contractor began mobilization at the lodge last week, moving equipment and material into an enlarged, lay-down area in the parking lot. The project is expected to start in January.
