The Canyon Lake Quilters group on Wednesday presented veteran Frances “Frank” Casey with a Quilts of Valor quilt. Casey served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1970.
The Canyon Lake Quilters group participates in the national Quilts of Valor movement by creating patriotic quilts for veterans. Each year, the group holds a free raffle for veterans only and presents the winner with a quilt. The raffle is typically held during the city’s Veterans Day Celebration. This year, the raffle was held during the Senior Center Holiday Boutique with the winning ticket pulled at the end of the two-day event.
The Canyon Lake Quilters is made up of a group of women who meet to work on their quilting projects on the first Wednesday of every month at the Canyon Lake Senior Center. Several of the members belong to local guilds and have made award-winning quilts. For more information about the Canyon Lake Quilters, contact Kathy Barbay at 951-805-3278.
