Canyon Lake resident Ilyssa DeCasperis has been named the Southern California National Association of Railway Business Women’s (NARBW) “Woman of the Year.”
Each chapter of the NARBW votes for a “Woman of the Year.” Next week, DeCasperis will be attending the NARBW Annual Conference where a national winner will be selected among the regional winners.
Her nomination states, “Ilyssa has made it her mission to raise the level of awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of women in America by making it her calling to share with everyone her own experience battling this deadly disease. Her courage to share her story with transparency and authenticity has been very inspiring. Her deep desire to be of service to others raising money for a cure is commendable.”
DeCasperis is on a mission to educate women on the signs and symptoms of cardiac disease and how they differ from the signs and symptoms in men. Earlier this year, DeCasperis was nominated as one of six “Woman of Impact” by the American Heart Association of Southern California. As a “Woman of Impact,” DeCasperis joined the campaign to raise funds and awareness for cardiac disease and women’s heart health. She raised $25,601.
