The Canyon Lake City Council on Wednesday recognized resident Kaelyn Bloch, a paraeducator at Temescal Canyon High School, for assisting a driver who suffered a medical emergency and crashed into a fence in the school’s student pick-up area.
On October 6, Bloch was leaving the school when she witnessed a vehicle crash into a fence.
Recognizing that the driver was suffering from a medical emergency, Bloch immediately attempted to enter the vehicle to assist the driver. When she found the vehicle’s doors locked, Bloch retrieved a window punch from her vehicle and used it to gain access to the driver, injuring her hands and arms in the process.
Ignoring her own injuries, Bloch assisted the driver while waiting for emergency medical personnel to arrive and transport the driver to the hospital.
The Canyon Lake City Council presented Bloch with a Certificate of Recognition and commended her for her courage, willingness to act, swift action, and readiness to respond to emergencies.
Lake Elsinore School District Trustee Dr. Jennette Vanderpool, Temescal Canyon High School Principal Joshua Hill, Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Dr. Kip Meyer, and Director of Security and School Safety Scott Merrill attended the presentation in support of Bloch.
Bloch will be recognized as Employee of the Month during the school board meeting on Thursday, Trustee Vanderpool announced.
