Canyon Lake resident Kelly Lopez is forming a community garden group. Her vision is to form a group of community gardeners who will help to create a community garden in Canyon Lake.
Lopez is working with the Canyon Lake POA Recreation Committee to determine a location for a community garden, a place where residents can create and maintain their own garden in individual raised garden beds. Members of the group will have the opportunity to grow flowers, herbs, and produce. The community garden will also serve as a place where garden demonstrations and group activities can be held.
Once the group is formed, Lopez will be working with the POA to sanction the group. After the group is sanctioned, Lopez plans to seek nonprofit status for the group.
Lopez will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, February 23, at 4:30 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Library. Those interested in joining the group or learning more about the community garden are invited to attend. For more information, contact Kelly Lopez at 951-609-6723.
