Canyon Lake residents are invited to decorate their bikes, scooters, skateboards, and golf carts and participate in the 18th Annual 4th of July Bike Ride. Walkers and runners are also welcome.
Participants will gather at 30525 Longhorn Drive for a group photo at 8:30 a.m. The ride starts at 9 a.m. and will travel down Longhorn Drive and through Happy Camp, then back to Big Range Road to Whirlaway Court to the endpoint at Moonstone Beach.
The tradition of the 4th of July Bike Ride started 18 years ago when Karen and Taz Waller opened their driveway on Longhorn Drive to a handful of kids and dads for breakfast and a bike ride through Canyon Lake on the morning of July 4. At the time, they had no idea the bike ride would turn into an annual event with hundreds of residents participating.
The Wallers hosted the bike ride for 14 years, then relocated to Colorado in 2018. Today, the Roller family continues the tradition that the Wallers started in 2004.
