Canyon Lake was restocked with 900 crappies, 900 bluegills, and 750 basses on July 1.
Anyone 16 years and older must have a valid California State Fishing License to fish in Canyon Lake. The license must be visible at all times. All guests over the age of 15 must be accompanied by a member carrying a valid POA card unless they are guests of the campground, in which case fishing is permitted from the campground shoreline during their stay.
Fishing is allowed on any part of the lake except off the main, north, and Treasure Island causeways. Fishing is also prohibited from all common docks when boats and/or swimmers are present. Night fishing is permitted in accordance with California Fishing Regulations.
Canyon Lake’s fishing rules are enforced by Community Patrol and Marine Patrol. The Canyon Lake Police Department and California State Game Warden may confiscate fishing gear for violation of California State fishing laws.
Catch and release is recommended for small to moderately-sized sport fish. Maintaining a high sport fish population can improve water quality and reproductive success of sport fish. By releasing the smaller sport fish today, you will increase the chance of catching more and larger fish tomorrow.
