The Canyon Lake Senior Chair Volleyball Club won silver at the Inland Valley Senior Chair Volleyball Tournament on March 4 at the Sun City Civic Association Campus.

The Canyon Lake Division 2 team consisted of Barry Ward (captain), Nancy Green (co-captain), PJ Anderson, Pam Oskey, Teresa Fidler, Eric Schrader, Louie Lancia, Janine Schrufer, and Lynne Trampush. Marina Stinson served as a lineman.

The Canyon Lake players won 14 of the 16 games they played against nine teams. They were presented with silver medals and a team trophy.

The Canyon Lake Senior Chair Volleyball Club welcomes new members ages 50 and better. Practices are held on Monday and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the lodge. Membership is $15.

Chair volleyball games are played with a 20-inch beach ball with the players seated in chairs. The net is five feet high, which is two feet lower than a standard volleyball net. Each game is played until one team reaches 15 points.

Because players remain seated during the game, chair volleyball allows those with physical limitations to participate on a level playing field with those who may be more active.
