Twenty members of the Canyon Lake Ski Club competed in the 2022 Western Regional Championship at Bell Acqua in Sacramento and brought home 27 medals, eight of which are gold.
Eighteen of the skiers were performance-qualified to participate in one to three events. Most of the skiers competed in multiple events, including Slalom, Trick, and Jump. Resident and teacher Kim Larson served as the chief judge for the four-day event.
Teen skier Kendra Nathan (Girls 5) won all three events and Overall. Her wins earned her four gold medals. Scott Larson captured the gold in Masters Men Slalom. Katie Horton (Women’s 1) and Diana Parker (Women’s 6) both took the gold in Jump. Tina Grossi (Women’s 5) took gold in Slalom.
Youngster Liam Brady earned Most Improved Junior Jumper. Brady and Jake Kerber had “personal best” scores in their event. Julia Kerber earned Most Improved Slalom Skier.
