Canyon Lake resident Donica Loney recently achieved a remarkable milestone in her educational journey. On August 16, Loney proudly walked across the stage at California Baptist University (CBU) to receive her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
In a separate White Coat Presentation Ceremony, Loney was presented with the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. The award is given to the student who demonstrates an outstanding attitude, superior work ethic, and exceptional academic achievement, which Loney exemplified throughout her time at CBU.
With her degree in hand and the Outstanding Graduate Student Award proudly displayed, Loney is now poised to embark on her professional journey. She has secured a position with a prominent local medical group and is eagerly preparing to begin her career as a physician assistant.
Loney’s journey from being a dedicated member of the Canyon Lake community to achieving academic excellence was marked by dedication, hard work, and a passion for healthcare. In 2017, Loney graduated Salutatorian with Biomed Honors from Santa Rosa Academy where she completed the PLTW four-year Biomedical Sciences program.
In 2020, amidst the pandemic, Loney went on to graduate summa cum laude with Honors from Califonia Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a Pre-PA concentration.
Loney has simultaneously held many positions in officer and leadership roles while maintaining superior academic performance. While putting in many hours of shadowing, research, and volunteer service, Loney held positions of employment as a medical assistant, emergency room technician, and emergency medical technician, She has received numerous awards and scholarships, including several scholarships awarded by Canyon Lake clubs.
As required to earn her master’s degree, Loney completed clinical rotations in family practice, general surgery, behavioral health, women’s health, orthopedic surgery, urgent care, internal medicine, pediatrics, and emergency medicine.
As Loney steps into her new role in the healthcare field, she looks forward to making a positive impact on the health and well-being of her future patients.
Loney is a 10-year resident of Canyon Lake and a founding member of the Canyon Lake ShowCal Skiers.
