Seventeen-year-old Canyon Lake resident Veronica Garza was recently honored with the Dr. Cynthia A. Cotter Distinguished Volunteer Award for her outstanding dedication and countless hours of volunteering with the San Diego Psychological Association (SDPA).
Garza is the first recipient of this prestigious award, which was n named in honor of Dr. Cynthia A. Cotter, a distinguished neurophysiologist specializing in geriatric psychology and neuropsychology.
Despite her busy schedule, which includes schoolwork, playing sports, and juggling two part-time jobs, Garza volunteered numerous hours assisting with conferences, events, galas, and board meetings.
“It is an honor to receive this award from the SDPA in the name of Dr. Cotter,” Garza said. “Dr. Cotter has been an amazing mentor and role model to me, and her contributions to the community of psychology have inspired me to pursue a career in the field of psychology.”
A senior at Temescal Canyon High School, Garza works part-time with the grounds crew at Diamond Stadium and as a sports photographer for a local photography studio.
