The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club’s Turkey Trot has become a community Thanksgiving Day tradition. This year, more than 100 residents participated in the family-friendly event.
The 4th Annual Turkey Trot featured a 5K Run/Walk for adults and older kids and a 1K Kids Fun Run for the little ones. Participants departed from Gault Field at 9 a.m.

Austin Fortenberry and Jully Martilla were the first place male and female 5K finishers. They were awarded pumpkin pies. Eight-year-old William Hall and six-year-old Summer Hall were the first place 1K finishers.
Participants were asked to donate canned and non-perishable food. The donates were given to the Canyon Lake-based Helping Hands Group, a 501(c)(3) organization that serves the communities of Canyon Lake, French Valley, Hemet, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Murrieta, Perris, Temecula, and Wildomar.
The Triathlon and Fitness Club will be hosting a variety of events in 2022, including the Heart and Sole 5K/10K in February, the Tour de Canyon Lake in April, and the Paddle and Pedal Regatta in August.
