Canyon Lake veteran presented with patriotic quilt in appreciation of service

The Quilters of Canyon Lake honored resident Warren Waterworth for his dedicated service to the country by presenting him with a handmade patriotic quilt.

Waterworth served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He completed boot camp and special training in San Diego, California, before being deployed to Kami Seya, Japan, for two years. His final year of service was spent in Imperial Beach, California.

The presentation of the quilt was held on Wednesday at the Canyon Lake Senior Center, where Waterworth was joined by his wife, Rosemarie, and daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Van Vleet. The presentation concluded with a cake.

The mission of the Quilters of Canyon Lake is to honor and thank local veterans and active duty service members for their service by presenting them with handmade patriotic quilts. The recipients are chosen by nominations and through free raffles during major community events.
