The Canyon Lake Yacht Club awarded $1000 scholarships to two Canyon Lake students: McKenzie Cassara and Emma Cole.

The scholarships were presented during the club’s membership picnic on June 8 at Holiday Harbor Park.

Cassara was presented with a scholarship for her outstanding academic abilities, extracurricular activities, and commitment to serving the community.

Cassara is a Temescal Canyon High School student with a 4.0 GPA. She’s been a member of the varsity cheer team for four years, serving as the captain during her senior year, and a member of the varsity stunt team for four years. Cassara held a rigorous course load, including multiple honors and advanced placement courses. She plans to attend Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and major in English.

Cole was presented with a scholarship for her outstanding academic abilities, enthusiasm for learning, and dedication to the healthcare profession.

Cole is also a student at Temescal Canyon High School, boasting a 4.3 GPA. She has been a member of the cheer team for four years and the stunt team for three years. In addition, Cole is a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the Health and Medical Careers Academy. With a strong academic aptitude and a passion for helping others, Cole plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas and major in nursing.

“The Yacht Club was very impressed with both young ladies,” said Commodore Rob Mora. “We wish them continued success.”

The Canyon Lake Yacht Club was established in 1990 by residents who enjoyed time on the lake. Since that time, the club has operated as a social and philanthropic club within the Canyon Lake constellation of POA sanctioned clubs and organizations.

The Yacht Club maintains a busy social calendar, bringing members together for dinners, sunset cruises, and other recreation. The club also hosts Canyon Lake’s iconic Parade of Lights holiday boat parade and gives back to the community through its student scholarship program.
