One of the Canyon Lake Yacht Club’s most unique traditions is its burgee exchange program, launched in 2024. The program offers special recognition to members who collect the most burgees from other yacht clubs in the United States and abroad.
A long-standing nautical tradition, a burgee exchange takes place when visiting other yacht clubs. Each club has a unique burgee that identifies the club.
Today, the Canyon Lake Yacht Club’s collection has grown to 83 burgees. Sixty one of the burgees are currently on display at the Canyon Lake Lodge.
Some of the most recent additions to the collection include burgees from the Canyon Lake Yacht Club in Texas; Charleston Yacht Club in South Carolina; Port Canaveral Yacht Club in Florida; South Shore Yacht Club in Newport Beach, California; Jackson Yacht Club in Mississippi; Saint Lucia Yacht Club in the Caribbean, and the Compagnia Della Vela Yacht Club in Venice, Italy.
