Editor’s note: Due to the expected arrival of Hurricane Hilary with possible east winds gusting to 50 mph on Sunday, the Yacht Club is postponing this event.
The Canyon Lake Yacht Club invites the community to its Hawaiian-themed lake cruise and party on Sunday, August 20. Boats will meet at the Holiday Harbor Park guest docks at 6:15 p.m. Tropical attire is suggested but not mandatory.
Attendees should bring their own drinks and an appetizer to share during social time at the docks prior to setting sail on a casual cruise around the main lake. Boat ownership is not required to attend. Guests are welcome to board Yacht Club boats as available. Priority seating will be offered to Yacht Club members.
“This is an opportunity to try out the Yacht Club at one of our signature events,” Commodore Ron Wilbur said. “All are welcome.”
The Yacht Club will be raising money for Maui wildfire relief, providing an opportunity for attendees to contribute to help the relief efforts. Members Michelle and Bob Burns, co-chairs of Sunday’s Yacht Club event, recently returned from Maui where they experienced the fires firsthand.
Formed in 1990, the Yacht Club is a nonprofit club comprised of more than 200 members of all ages and interests. For more information, visit www.canyonlakeyachtclub.com.
