The Canyon Lake Yacht Club has recognized Jim Lange as Deckhand of the Month. The club’s Deckhand of the Month program aims at recognizing members who consistently go above and beyond in guiding the club toward its mission.

In May, Lange demonstrated exceptional dedication by volunteering his time and boat at two significant events: Learn to Drive a Boat clinic and Fiesta Day.

On May 18, Lange was one of six captains who volunteered to teach 19 residents how to drive a boat and navigate the lake safely during the club’s Learn to Drive a Boat clinic. His expertise and willingness to use his boat significantly contributed to the success of the event.

In addition to his efforts at the clinic, Lange provided a water taxi service transporting people to and from Holiday Harbor Park and the lodge during Fiesta Day. This was the first time the Yacht Club offered this service, and it proved to be a big success.

A member of the Yacht Club for nine years, Lange also plays a crucial role in the club’s annual Parade of Lights boat parade, where he serves as an official. He manages the boat entries, establishes the boat lineup, and communicates with judges, handling all the last-minute crises to ensure the parade runs smoothly.

In appreciation of his contributions, the Yacht Club treated Lange and his wife, Mary, to dinner at the lodge. They were joined by Commodore Rob Mora, Purser Lynette Rodriguez, and Membership Chair Cindy Silk-Gonzalez.

Lange’s commitment and hard work exemplify the spirit of the Yacht Club, making him a deserving recipient of the Deckhand of the Month. “Our club and community are very fortunate to have Jim and Mary as residents and Canyon Lake Yacht Club members,” Mora said. “We are grateful for everything they do.”

The Langes purchased a lakefront home in Canyon Lake 10 years ago after raising their three boys in Orange County. Their family activities were centered around the water, boating, fishing, and trips to Catalina Island.

Formed in 1990, the Yacht Club is comprised of residents of all ages and all interests. Boat ownership is not required to be a member. For more information, visit Yacht Club members can nominate a Deckhand of the Month by emailing Commodore Rob Mora at [email protected].
