The Canyon Lake Yacht Club celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a “Sunday-After” Cruise event on March 19. With six boats and more than 30 partygoers, the cruise was well attended.
Commodore Ron Wilbur acknowledged the weather challenge. “We kept one eye on the weather channel and the other on the clouds. As it was, the day was great with a surprising turnout and lots of fun. Food and drink were shared among the celebrants and the slight drizzle was brief and not enough to dampen any spirits.”
Sunday’s cruise was one of twelve cruises on the Yacht Club’s event calendar this year. The club’s future themed cruises include Mardi Gras, Pirates & Wenches, Hawaiian Island, Oktoberfest, Halloween, Veterans Day, and Coast Guard Day. Upcoming events include Opening Day of Boating Season/Blessing of the Boats, Whale Hunt, Lake Clean-Up, Waterfront Holiday Display Competition and Tour, and the club’s iconic Parade of Lights Boat Parade.
Formed in 1990, the Yacht Club has a current membership of 150. The membership is comprised of residents of all ages and all interests. Boat ownership is not required to be a member. Annual membership is $15 and can be paid online on the club’s website at www.canyonlakeyachtclub.com.
