More than 110 Canyon Lake Yacht Club members and their guests attended the club’s 2nd Annual Commodore’s Ball. Held at the Canyon Lake Lodge, the formal event celebrated the club’s achievements over the past year with dinner dancing, and a silent auction.
One highlight of the evening was a presentation of the burgee exchange challenge awards, presented to Michelle and Bob Burns for collecting the most burgees across the U.S. and Kathy and Brian Wood for traveling more than 13,000 miles to collect burgees internationally.
The club also announced its plan to donate Thanksgiving dinners to six young mothers transitioning out of foster care and into independent living, continuing its commitment to community service.
The Yacht Club’s remaining 2024 events include the iconic Parade of Lights boat parade on December 14 and the decorating of the lake’s lighthouse. As part of the club’s efforts to enhance holiday cheer, the lighthouse will be adorned with a colorful wreath and garland. It will be illuminated on the evening of the POA’s Tree Lighting Festival.
The Yacht Club was established in 1990 by Canyon Lake residents who enjoyed time on the lake. The club maintains a busy social calendar, bringing members together for dinners, sunset cruises, and other recreation. The club also hosts Canyon Lake’s iconic Parade of Lights holiday boat parade and gives back to the community through its student scholarship program.
