The Canyon Lake POA Board approved the Young Old People’s Club (YOP-C) as an officially sanctioned club.
YOP-C is a group of Canyon Lake residents aged 50 and older who are “young at heart” and interested in making new friendships while enjoying social events, dinners, outings, and charity activities.
The benefits of being a POA-sanctioned club include discounted use of POA facilities and common areas, discounted menu items for club banquets, use of certain POA equipment for sanctioned club functions, advertisement for club functions and upcoming events, and club information and contact listing on the POA website.
With a membership of approximately 600, YOP-C has quickly become known for its lively gatherings. Signature events include the Poker Run, Christmas Party, Summer Party, and group cruise. In addition, members participate in barbecues, game nights, bike and lunch rides, and various charitable initiatives.
YOP-C was formed in May 2023 by Judy and Pete Dorazio, who purchased a home in Canyon Lake 13 years ago. “We started the club because we wanted to make new friends in our community and bring like-minded, young-at-heart people together for fun,” Judy said. “Our club is about friends making friends and growing those friendships.”
The club’s next event is an Easter rock painting event on Saturday, April 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Senior Center. The cost is $5. To register, email [email protected]. For more information about the club, click here to visit its Facebook page.
