Canyon Lake resident Adam McNaughton, a service member since 2011, was recently promoted to machinist mate nuclear chief petty officer, advancing from his previous rank of petty officer first class.

McNaughton is one of only 79 sailors in his rate selected for advancement to chief petty officer by the Fiscal Year 2025 E-7 selection boards. Advancement to chief petty officer carries requirements of time in service, superior evaluation scores, and specialty examinations.

McNaughton currently serves aboard the USS Carl Vinson, an aircraft carrier where he plays a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of the ship’s nuclear power plants.

A Canyon Lake resident since 2004, McNaughton has been deployed five times. He recently returned from a two-month underway.
