Canyon Lake teen Kendra Nathan has been selected to the 2022 National Junior Water Ski Team. The 17-year-old was among the 24 selections from the Boys/Girls 3, Boys/Girls 4, and Boys/Girls 5 divisions. Selections were based on performances during the 2021 tournament season and the previous 12 months.
The team will not collectively represent the U.S. in any international competitions, but some of the junior athletes are expected to compete individually in the 2022 Junior Masters Water Ski Tournament and the 2022 Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships.
Next month, Nathan will be traveling to Florida and Peru to train for three weeks. Over spring break, she’ll return to Florida for more training. Her third trip to Florida will be in May for training and to compete in three tournaments, each a qualifier for the Junior Masters Water Ski Tournament. The Junior Masters will be held Memorial Weekend in Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Skiing since the age of eight, Nathan has won several national and regional titles. She competes in slalom, trick, and jump, and is currently an open-rated skier in slalom, trick, and overall.
