Canyon Lake resident Kylene Evans, daughter of Michelle and Larry Evans, has announced her engagement to Nathaniel McGrew, son of Tami and Kevin McGrew. The couple met at a friend’s birthday party in Temecula in 2020 and began dating in 2022.
The surprise proposal took place under the gazebo near the pond at Ponte Winery in Temecula, where McGrew arranged a romantic and very personal surprise.
Posing undercover, via email, as a client in need of a professional harpist for a proposal at the winery, McGrew asked Evans, who has been a professional harpist for nearly 15 years, to perform for what she believed was another couple’s engagement.
As Kylene sat playing “Can’t Help Falling in Love” on her harp and waited for the “couple” to arrive, she was instead surprised to see McGrew walking down the aisle to propose to her. “It turned out that I was playing for my own proposal,” Evans said.
After the proposal, the couple enjoyed a private dinner and then returned home to celebrate with her parents. “It was a perfect day,” Evens said.
Evans has lived in Canyon Lake since she was one year old. Born in Canada, McGrew currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he works as an educator at a private Christian school.
