Captain Rayls presents Canyon Lake crime stats for December 2022

January 11, 2023, Captain James Rayls of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department presented a public safety update for the month of December 2022.

Deputies responded to 418 calls, an increase of 62 calls from the previous month. Nine Part One crimes were reported: two aggravated assaults, three burglaries, three larceny thefts, and one motor vehicle theft.

Deputies wrote four traffic citations and investigated one traffic collision. This does not include traffic collisions in which no report was written.

Overall, five arrests were made. They include one arrested for a DUI, one for drug possession, two for restraining order violations, and one for a stolen vehicle.

Police services are provided by the City of Canyon Lake through a contract with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Residents are reminded to contact the police department, not Canyon Lake Community Patrol, for incidents pertaining to the law. For emergencies, call 911.
