Lake Hemet is taking a stand against the invasive carp population by hosting a free Carp Derby every Sunday through October 13. This event aims to remove 5,000 pounds of carp from the lake, helping to restore the balance of the ecosystem.
Prizes will be awarded every Sunday to anglers who catch the most carp.
Each week, the first place winner will be awarded a four-hour premium pontoon rental or annual day-use and launch pass. The second place winner will awarded a four-hour standard pontoon rental or annual day-use pass. The third place winner will be awarded a two-hour standard pontoon rental or two free nights of camping.
All anglers aged 16 and older must have a valid California fishing license. Bow fishing is permitted but must be inspected and used in a designated area.
