A Lake Elsinore man armed with a chainsaw and a knife was taken into custody on Wednesday morning after allegedly threatening family members inside a residence.
Shortly before 10:54 a.m., Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the 400 block of Lookout Street regarding a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, deputies were advised that a male subject inside the residence was armed with a knife and chainsaw, threatening family members.
The suspect exited the residence while armed with a chainsaw but failed to follow commands and reentered, according to authorities. All occupants of the residence were able to safely exit while deputies continued to negotiate with the suspect.
With assistance from the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as Agustin Enrique Arana, a 32-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore. Arana was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
