City extends business license fee discount associated with Residential Program

The Canyon Lake City of Canyon Lake adopted Resolution No. 2020-28, reorganizing the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic on rental properties and authorizing the creation of a program extending the business license fee discount associated with the Residential Program.

Adoption of this resolution authorizes the city manager to establish a program to extend the 50 percent discount for business license fees required by the Residential Rental Program through the end of the 2020 calendar year for properties located within the city that have been adversely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Residential Program was designed to alleviate common problems experienced with rental properties, to approve living conditions for renters, and to protect the general welfare of Canyon Lake residents.

The program requires property owners to register their home(s) if all or portion of the residence is being rented or leased to person(s) other than the property owner. In an effort to encourage early participation in the program, the city reduced the business license fee by 50 percent for any registration filed on or before June 30, 2020.
