The City of Canyon Lake announced today the passing of Councilman Jordan Ehrenkranz. Jordan’s wife, Jennie, notified the city of his passing this morning.
“Our entire community mourns the loss of Jordan Ehrenkranz,” said Canyon Lake Mayor Kasey Castillo. “He was an incredibly dedicated and beloved public servant. Canyon Lake is a better place because of his tireless work, and he will be deeply missed.”
Jordan served on the Canyon Lake City Council for more than 12 years, including four terms as mayor. He was reelected in 2020 and is the only council member to be elected for four terms. Prior to that, he had served on the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Board for five years and was president three times.
While serving on the City Council, Jordan represented the city on numerous regional boards, including Western Riverside Council of Governments, Western Riverside County Regional Conservation Authority, Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control District, and the Economic and Energy Committee of the Southern California Association of Governments.
Jordan was a Canyon Lake property owner for more than fifty years and a full-time resident for more than 25 years. He was named Canyon Lake’s Citizen of the Year twice and was well-known and loved as an incredibly active member of the community. He was a 17-year member of the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce and belonged to and sponsored many clubs and activities.
“His always positive attitude and cheerful disposition will be missed by his City of Canyon Lake family,” said the city in a press release.
