The City of Canyon Lake invites high school seniors to take part in an essay contest for an opportunity to win a $1,500 scholarship. This essay contest provides an opportunity for students to reflect on the impact of their community while competing for a scholarship that can help support their educational goals.
The contest is open to all high school seniors who reside in Canyon Lake. Submissions are due no later than Thursday, April 9, at 5 p.m.
Students must submit an essay between 750 and 850 words describing something that their community has taught them that they could not have learned in school, why this lesson was important to them, and how it shaped who they are or how they approach the future.
Only original and previously unpublished essays are eligible.
Submissions must be emailed in PDF or Word format to [email protected] and be accompanied by the student’s resume, volunteer experience, and extracurricular activities. Entries are limited to one per student.
One winner will be selected. The scholarship will be presented at the May 13 city council meeting.
