The Canyon Lake City Council has authorized the city manager to move forward with the purchase of approximately 34.99 acres of vacant land located on the northwest side of Railroad Canyon Road at Canyon Hills Road.
The property, known as Goat Hill, was secured for a purchase price of $1.5 million. The property owner gifted more than 50 percent of the property to the City of Canyon Lake, allowing the city to secure a purchase price significantly below its appraised fair market value of $2,895,000.
The city said the purchase of the property ensures it remains under public control for the long-term benefit of the community. “While there are no immediate development plans, preserving local authority over this land ensures that any future use will be guided by what best serves Canyon Lake and its residents,” City Manager Arron Brown said.
