The City of Canyon Lake, along with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Riverside County Fire Department/CalFire, are reminding residents that all fireworks, including sparklers, are illegal in Riverside County.
On July 4, the City of Canyon Lake will have code enforcement officers and sheriff deputies patrolling the streets, parks, and the lake, and will be strictly enforcing the city’s ordinance prohibiting the use or possession of fireworks.
Following the excessive and hazardous display of illegal fireworks in 2020, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors launched a multi-agency fireworks education and enforcement campaign to curb the dangerous and illegal activity. The campaign slogan will be highly visible in the campaign materials and references the steeper fines for those found with illegal fireworks. Fines range from $1,000 and $5,000, depending on the number of violations a person has had over three years.
The city encourages residents to enjoy a safe Fourth of July by watching the POA’s fireworks show or one of the many others across Riverside County.
