The City of Canyon Lake invites high school seniors to enter its essay contest for an opportunity to win a $1,500 scholarship.
The contest is open to all high school seniors who reside in Canyon Lake. Submissions are open from February 3 through April 10 at 5 p.m. Entries are limited to one per student.
Students may choose between the two following topics:
- What does ‘community’ mean to you, and how can youth create a lasting impact in their local neighborhoods?
- If you could create a project or program to improve the lives of Canyon Lake residents, what would it be and why?
Essays must be 500 to 750 words in length. Only original and previously unpublished essays are eligible.
Submissions must be emailed in PDF or Word format to [email protected] before 5 p.m. on April 10. The submission must be accompanied by the student’s resume.
One winner will be selected. The winner must attend the May 14 city council meeting.
