The City of Canyon Lake invites the community to give the gift of a meal this Thanksgiving by participating in its 14th Annual Turkey and Food Drive on Thursday, November 20, Donations of frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items can be dropped off at City Hall between 2 and 4 p.m.
Suggested donations include frozen turkeys, whole frozen chickens, stuffing mix and gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams and brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, and non-perishable items.

Food collected will be donated to the Helping Hands Group, a 501(c)(3) organization that delivers food locally to disabled individuals, the elderly, and people in crisis.
In addition to the Turkey Drive, Yard Fresh, a Canyon Lake-based pet waste management company, is hosting a Blanket Drive to benefit Animal Friends of the Valleys. They are accepting new and gently used blankets and other pet supplies, which can be dropped off in a collection bin at the city’s Turkey Drive.
Together, these efforts provide an opportunity for the community to support both local families and furry friends in need this holiday season.
