The City of Canyon Lake will be honoring Memorial Day and fallen military service members by placing an American flag in every yard in the city. A ribbon with the city’s logo will be tied to each flag.
The city enlisted the help of dozens of volunteers to help with this monumental task. Volunteers will be placing the flags in more than 4,500 yards between Wednesday, May 24, and Friday, May 26.
The city is asking all residents to leave the flags in their yards through Memorial Day. Residents who do not receive a flag may contact the city to arrange to pick one up at City Hall.
In addition to the yard flags, approximately 200 flags will be placed in the Veterans Memorial Park in the Towne Center. A memorial sign will also be erected and a wreath will be placed at the monument.
