The City of Lake Elsinore is accepting applications to fill the vacant city council seat representing District 4, the seat previously held by Natasha Johnson, who was elected to the 63rd Assembly District seat previously held by Assemblymember Bill Essayli.
Applicants must reside in District 4, be at least 18 years old, and be registered to vote in the City of Lake Elsinore.
Applicants must include a nomination form with at least 20 original signatures from registered voters in District 4. Nomination forms can be picked up at City Hall during regular business hours.
Completed applications must be filed with the City Clerk’s Office by Tuesday, October 7, at 5 p.m. Only those who meet these eligibility requirements and submit a complete application by the deadline will be considered.
The appointment to fill the vacancy will occur at one of the following city council meetings: October 14, October 28, or November 11. Meetings are held at the Cultural Center, located at 183 N. Main Street. The appointed council member will serve through the November 3, 2026, General Municipal Election.
Council Members are responsible for attending regular and special city council meetings, participating on committees, commissions, and outside agency assignments, and filing the legally required Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests.
