The City of Murrieta will hold a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, November 13, at 5 p.m. to discuss a recent home invasion that left a 70-year-old man dead and his wife injured.
The meeting will be held at City Hall and aims to provide residents, particularly those in the Country Walk neighborhood and surrounding areas, with the opportunity to hear directly from the Murrieta City Council, Murrieta Police Department, and city leadership.
Attendees will have an opportunity to share concerns regarding public safety and discuss the recent incident that has impacted the community.
“Our goal is to ensure open communication, transparency, and collaboration as we continue working together to keep Murrieta a safe place to live,” the city said.
On November 5 at around 8:18 a.m. Murrieta officers responded to a residence on Old Spring Road after receiving a 911 call from a woman who reported that an unknown man had entered her home and attacked her and her husband. The victim reported that she was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver and her husband had been stabbed with knife and appeared to be deceased.
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Manual Arturo Alvarez of Modesto, fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later in a ravine behind a residence on Wild Flower Drive. He was arrested on suspicion of homicide and attempted homicide.
