The City of Temecula is taking a data-driven approach to better understand parking trends in Old Town.
As part of this pilot program, the city will install small occupancy sensors within street parallel parking spaces along Old Town Front Street between Main Street and the northern entry arch. These sensors will collect data on whether a vehicle is occupying a space or not.
The city hopes this data will help guide future parking policies in Old Town. Results of the program will be shared with the Old Town Local Advisory Committee at public meetings.
The installation is scheduled to begin on Sunday, February 11, at 7 a.m. and is expected to take approximately eight hours. While sections of parking spaces will be temporarily closed, parking space sections will be open as they are completed. The street will remain open during the installation period.
