Canyon Lake residents are invited to give the gift of a Thanksgiving meal by donating to the city’s 9th annual Frozen Turkey and Food Drive. The food collected will be donated to Helping Our People in Elsinore (HOPE) Food Pantry.
Residents who wish to participate in the drive may drop off frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items at City Hall, 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd., on Thursday, November 19, between 2 and 4 p.m.
Suggested items include frozen turkey, whole frozen chicken, stuffing mix and gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams and brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, non-perishable items, and other items of choice.
For more than 25 years, the non-profit HOPE has been serving individuals in Elsinore Valley through its food ministry. Services provided by HOPE benefit more than 100 Canyon Lake families.
Last year, 93 turkeys and approximately 1,500 pounds of food were donated, allowing the community’s most vulnerable residents to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
