Superheroes, princesses, witches, clowns, and ghosts were among those who scattered throughout the Towne Center on Saturday to collect candy at more than 30 businesses. Along the way, children collected stamps on a Treasure Map for a chance to enter a drawing for a gift card.
Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, the 28th Annual Parade of Frights offered plenty of fright-free fun. Children played carnival games for prizes, showcased their costumes in the parade, and competed for trophies in the costume contest.
Lieutenant James Rayls of the Riverside Sheriff’s Department and Captain Brent Carter and crew of Canyon Lake Fire Station 60 joined the children in the parade. Mike Shroyer of Good Time Entertainment provided the spooktacular music throughout the morning.
Mathias Mesner, Alana, and Delaney Lightman won the Treasure Map drawing and were presented with $25 Target gift cards.
The first place costumes included a little chicken, a Day of Dead girl, a rollerskating waitress, and a patriotic family. The first place winners in the 0 to 1 years old, 2 to 5 years old, 6 to 9 years old, and Best Ensemble categories were awarded trophies provided by Champion Trophies.
Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce Director Joseph DeCasperis, Mrs. California WOA Jeannette Vanderpool, and Champion Trophy representative Elise Leigh served as judges and presented the trophies to the winners.
